How to Install Perspex Double GlazingHow to Install Perspex Double Glazing

Your windows are a key feature of your home and provide a beautiful view while protecting you from heat, cold, noise, and pollution. They also add value and are one of the main assets in your home’s energy efficiency. However, a single-glazed window allows too much heat to transfer into your living space in summer and too much cold to escape in winter resulting in soaring electricity bills.

Perspex double glazing is a cost-effective and efficient way to upgrade your existing windows. It works as an insulation baffle between the original glass and perspex reducing noise and increasing thermal efficiency of your home. It’s easy to fit, low maintenance and can be removed when you decide to sell your home or renovate.

Perspex Double Glazing: A Modern Solution for Improved Comfort and Energy Efficiency

Clear Perspex Acrylic sheets, known by other names such as Lucite or Altuglas are a strong and durable alternative to glass. They are lightweight and offer high impact resistance making them the perfect choice for secondary glazing. Perspex is water resistant has no toxic elements and has a high optical clarity with UV stability.

To start the installation, remove the film and paper from the magnetic side of the Perspex sheet. Next, line up the Perspex panel with your window frame and using a small amount of pressure begin to secure it to the window frame. When the Perspex is secured and you’re happy with its alignment, continue to apply consistent pressure across the perimeter of the glass until there is an airtight seal on each side of the window frame.
